One shipment, one truck, one point of contact. J&A Freight Systems has matched full truckload freight to vetted carriers since 1986, so your pallets ride alone, move direct, and arrive on time.
Full truckload (FTL) means your freight has the trailer to itself. There are no shared-space stops, no cross-dock handling, and no transit-time surprises from someone else's pallets. For shipments of roughly ten pallets or more, high-value or fragile goods, or anything on a tight delivery appointment, FTL is usually the fastest and safest way to move it.
As a non-asset-based 3PL, J&A does not own trucks. That is the point. Instead of forcing your freight onto whatever equipment we happen to have parked, we source the right truck for each load from a network of roughly 200 carrier partners that we have vetted and continue to monitor. You get the coverage of a national fleet with the accountability of a single Chicago team that answers the phone.
Every FTL shipment is assigned a named J&A owner who books the carrier, confirms pickup, watches the load move in our Transportation Management System, and handles exceptions before they reach your dock.
Active authority, FMCSA safety performance, and current cargo and liability insurance are verified before a carrier sees your freight, and re-checked on an ongoing basis.
GPS and ELD-fed location updates in your shipper portal, with proactive check calls at pickup, in transit, and delivery.
One invoice per load, freight audit included, and PODs and BOLs stored in the document center for as long as you need them.
Origin, destination, commodity, weight, equipment, and dates. A spot quote comes back the same business day; contract lanes within 24 hours.
Your load is matched to a vetted carrier with the right equipment and a track record on that lane. We book direct and never re-broker.
Watch pickup, transit, and delivery milestones in the portal or let our team call you. Exceptions trigger a human response within minutes.
Audited invoice, documents on file, and lane-level data that feeds your quarterly business review.
Mid-market manufacturers and distributors shipping finished goods to distribution centers, retailers replenishing stores from regional warehouses, food and beverage producers with appointment-driven deliveries, and industrial shippers moving machinery or building materials on flatbeds. If you book more than a handful of truckloads a month and want one accountable partner instead of a load board, FTL through J&A is built for you.
The questions shippers ask before they book.
Choose FTL when you have roughly ten or more pallets, when the freight is fragile or high-value and should not be handled at terminals, or when a firm delivery appointment matters more than squeezing out the last dollar of savings. For smaller or less time-sensitive shipments, see our LTL service.
Dry van is the most common, and we also arrange flatbed, step-deck, conestoga, and other specialized trailers, as well as refrigerated equipment through our temperature-controlled service line.
Same-day and next-day pickups are routinely covered out of the Midwest, and most lanes nationally can be covered within 24 hours. Tell us the pickup window and we will tell you honestly what capacity looks like.
No. J&A books directly with the carrier that hauls your freight, and that carrier is bound by our rate confirmation. Your freight is never passed to a third party you have not been told about.
Spot quotes reflect current market capacity on your lane. For recurring freight we build contract lane rates with defined accessorial schedules so your landed cost is predictable quarter to quarter.
